Merritt K. Alcorn
Mr. Alcorn's practice concentration is in general civil litigation with an emphasis on personal injury litigation, domestic relations, commercial litigation, and wrongful death. He has extensive trial experience. Mr. Alcorn's geographical practice area includes southeastern Indiana and north central Kentucky. Mr. Alcorn also advises clients in the areas of estate planning and probate and has represented a southeastern Indiana school corporation for 18 years. He is a former Madison school board member. Mr. Alcorn was the prosecuting attorney for the Fifth Judicial Circuit for three terms, from 1979 to 1990. During his tenure as prosecutor, Mr. Alcorn served on the Prosecuting Attorney's Council, the Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee for the Southern District of Indiana, and was appointed by the Governor to the Law Enforcement Training Board. Mr. Alcorn is chairman of the board of trustees for Historic Madison, Inc. and Historic Madison, Inc. Foundation. He has membership and involvement in many other community organizations. He is a member of the Indiana, Kentucky and American Bar Associations, and a past member of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association, and the Association of American Trial Lawyers. Mr. Alcorn graduated from DePauw University (B.A. 1971), and the University of Louisville (J.D. 1975). He is a founding member of the law firm of ECKERT ALCORN GOERING & SAGE and has maintained his practice in Madison, Indiana since 1975.
